San diego basketball game fixing

The details are pretty interesting. That's a lot of money to win on gambling, particularly on a small school that went during Johnson's year of corruption. The electronic surveillance catching Johnson talking about possible money lost is embedded intel unlike anything the NCAA could ever hope to obtain.

What stands out about this case, even a few years after the fact: It happened at San Diego. It brings to mind game-fixing happening at Toledo in the past, too. You can lose it in an instant.

You can sell it cheap, which you did," U. District Judge Anthony Battaglia told Johnson. The former basketball star held his head in his hands after the sentencing and told NBC 7 that he would have no comment. The wiretapped telephone calls reveal a dangerous exchange between Johnson and T. Brown, a former USD assistant coach and the alleged go-between with the bettors. The NCAA has many policies that seem to do well in preventing certain actions from happening.

I do not think that one should really worry too much about game fixing, unless it starts to become more and more common and nothing is done to stop it. The instances that have happened have been dealt with, as the NCAA does seem to follow its policy well enough, as it did with the match fixing in San Diego and all the other times it has occurred.

As long as the NCAA continues to find and prevent match fixing from happening then I think that one should not be too worried about it ruining the fairness of the sport. You never completely know however, as it could be happening under the radar, and people may not find out about it for awhile. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.
